Dave you really dont want a dana 300. I am pretty sure even a 22 r could break those with open diffs. At least they are light when have to replace them every ride. They are ok for street driven vehicles that get into 4wd,maybe on the street if it is snowy. Other than that trash.

You, Alex, and Ting are main reasons I sold mine before I ever used it. Lots of people have luck with them though.

Thanks for the sales pitch Roger! Lol.

Dave,I'll dig in shop and take you some pics here in a bit.

Yeah, really. LOL

Still interests me if its been flipped. Gear driven vs chain driven.

I think this group is just hard on parts. I'm not easy on my POS but I do let up on the gas when needed.
Hell, since I've made it a trailer queen I'm easier than ever on it. Main reason is I keep breaking down from all of the trips that I've not taken it easy. The parts starting to show their age.

I've seen one last even with stickies. He was a technical crawler though no beating on it at all.

Alex runs one. He drives worse than i do, so you never know. It is gears driven, but that is not what breaks. It is the rear output, then the front output, then the input, then the rear output ,then the front output and so on and so on. I have had better luck with the stock Cherokee t cases with a slip yoke eliminator and they have chains.

The 231 is tough but you'd think the 300 would be stronger & better.

It's the rear output that's broken. Can see replacement in pic. Not flipped,I planned on doing that,23 spline.

I was there when he broke that one. It's what made him go 231/205.  boob1

The stock rear output is only 26spline, smaller than a stock 231 output.

Yeah. I think I'll pass.

I got the case in the mail this morning. I've never really got a good look at one but there ain't shit to the front 1/2. Literally a case, huge sun gear & the planetary set. There are shavings embedded in the sun gear teeth & the planetary teeth are chewed up pretty good & it roars when you barely try to spin it.

I owe the guy $200 for it or pay $30 to ship it back. I guess I'm gonna look into rebuilding it. I sent a e mail to Teraflex to see if they still rebuild them & how much. If more than $400 I'll see if I can get a replacement sun gear, depending on price, & have a machine shop install it.

If I can have less than $600 in it, I'm good with it. If I can sell it for a profit, I'll be even more happy. Either dump that $ in a 23 spline trans & 241OR or put the Teraflex in my XJ.

Just like with the 300, some folks have had good luck with the Teraflex. Some not.

I pm'ed Teraflex asking about rebuilding the case & they informed me since the case was discontinued a year ago that replacement parts were not available. I forwarded this info to the seller & he apologized & said to forget any payment to him.
I plan to find a '91 or later transmission with 23 spines & Tripp (Skinny Pedal Racing) said he'd sail me his TJ Rubi case sometime next year.
