Unit bearing boring.
« on: August 14, 2017, 11:18:40 AM »
So I'm looking around for a local place to bore my ub's for 35 spline, but I have a thought. I know with rear 60's a guys have successfully used a holesaw setup to bore them themselves. Any thought on if it would work on a unit bearing using a drill press?

I have only done one 60. I bolted it to the horizontal mill and drilled it. I would no want to do one with a hand drill. The unit bearing I would think it would be easier to bore it in a lathe.

I would do it in a drill press, I'm just trying to think long term, when I need to replace one, it might be nice to be able to get one and bore it myself rather than pay a shop and wait or wait on a bored one from branik.
